psd help for gimp

 
Does anyone know where i could find any PSD (icon sized) tutorials are for GIMP 2.5>?
Please let me, i had no luck finding any myself. I have been wanting to do them for awhile now. Please help me  :)

Psd's are a Photoshop document that can't be opened in other program, to my knowledge. You would need to use tutorials that are translatable to gimp or made specifically fo gimp. Most psd's come with an accompanying tutorial which means that if it is translatable you can follow the steps to get the same result of isn't the psd.

actually, .psd is a GIMP supported file format. however, i believe text layers, as well as non-supported adjustment layers will be lost.

GIMP can open .PSDs. Text layers do show up. But the adjustment layers like color balance, etc. won't show up because they are shown on the image differently in PS than in GIMP.

ah....someone had told me they were unable to see text layers in .psd files using an older version (i've had photoshop for years and never used GIMP, so i don't have first hand knowledge). of course, it might have been something specific to that .psd or perhaps in older versions text layers weren't translatable.
