it would be helpful to have an example of what you're working with so folks can see what might need to be suggested to achieve your goal.

I usually copy my image and then go to effects>>noise>>edge preserving smooth. Set it to whatever you want, it depends on how smooth you want the picture. Then copy the original on top of the smooth one, and erase parts you want to be smoother. To add more colour, play around with the color balance and saturation :)

The only thing that isn't going right is the color balance and saturation...I thought that'd be fun lol I have the tone balance on midtones and it seems to go more bluey or yellow even if I put them somewhat near to eachother.

Oh and for saturation the background has gone red and blue in the background if I go up which i'm guessing happens due to it being a screencap and it goes abit grey when I put it into the minus zone

I guess I could make a tutorial for you. Can you send me the image you've come up with so far?

ok, it's quite difficult to get it to look like that but I'll try:

first you duplicate your layer and set it to screen - 20%.
than you go to layers -> merge -> all flatten.
And then you duplicate your layer again and set it to soft light 80% and flatten it again.
Then what you need to do is play around with the hue/saturation, and especially up the reds.

I think it's the hue/saturation that goes wrong with it..will save and upload to show you :) will post it in reply here

I think you need to increase the saturation even more, like a lot :)

If I do it has weird lines...kind of like interlaced? I think? not sure what it is.

with increased saturation

yeah, that's what always happens. Don't worry, you didn't do anything wrong. You have to turn it down a bit until it looks ok. Also, if you're making an icon, by resizing it, it becomes less visible

Ah,Ok..that's definately good to know so thank you sooo much :D

I realize this is a few days old now, but thought I'd mention that the saturation on PSP7 is messed up, and I don't think there's a fix for it. It's nothing you're doing wrong, it's just the program.

What I ended up doing was making separate layers and going over the colors that I wanted to brighten with a different version of the color, and then playing around with the layer mode. I think I mostly used lighter colors on soft light or darker colors on screen. Playing around with the curves layer might also get you a more saturated look, but I'm not sure.

I will definately try that and tell you what happens :)

I find that the one step photo fix works wonders. It can be found under either Adjust or Enhance Photo. I do have PSP 8 but I assume it would be similar to v7.
