Photoshop problem

When i try and import a video into photoshop to make a animation, its only saying that i can import Quicktime videos.

please indicate which version you're using of photoshop and quicktime.

its photoshop cs5
it just says quicktime - it dosen't say what version, but i just got it so its the latest version.

i don't understand why you need quicktime anyway, i'm new to photoshop and i don't understand a thing!

photoshop uses the quicktime engine to render video. so if the video isn't a format quicktime (pro) can manipulate, neither can photoshop.

You have to convert the video to a mov file.

you can use Xmedia Recode to convert your video into .mov, it's the QuickTime format.

the video format is mp4? because I use Cs5 too and I have to use a mp4 or convert the video to that format.

convert the mp4 to .mov too,photoshop cannot work on other video formats.
