Replacing colours -- Photoshop 7

I'm currently making an icon and on one layer, I filled certain parts with red but now I've changed my mind and want to make those parts orange. I don't really want to have to go and re-select those parts again so I was wondering if there was any way I could have Photoshop (I have 7.0) select all the red parts for me and replace it with the orange I want. I was thinking maybe it's possible with the eyedropper tool but I'm not sure.

Layer Masks and Splices...

I've noticed that some people have suggested using layer masks to get a certain effect. And I tried to figure out what a layer mask is exactly. Obviously I've never used one, so I was kind of curious to learn what one is. Which brings me to the question:

What is a layer mask, how would I do it, and what effect would it create or in what instance would you use one?

I just figured it would be good to know. Oh! And I came across the splice tool in my PS and I don't know what that's used for either. Any ideas?

Thanks so much!

mini-movie question

I have a question and I'm really sorry if it's been posted before. I just started making mini-movie icons and I'm having a hard time putting the animation into the still image without it jumping around. Example is the icon below.

See how the animation shakes? Is there any easy way to get the screen captures in there perfectly? I'd appreciate any advice you guys have. Thanks so much!

P.S. And also, how do you get a border around the animation? Thanks!
