partial background? ... see through text?

Two questions:

1) I don't know how to explain what I'm asking about, and I don't know the terminology which is why i've been having trouble knowing where to look it up in the memories, but I've seen it done before. Anyhoo, I basically would like to know how to have something similar to this

anyhoo, the point is, i want to know how to get like, invisibility on part of the background and stuff... gah i hope i make sense :-/

2) if you look at like the text above where her entry box goes (under these tears...), you can see that the text is sort of see through. She did it without changing the opacity Im pretty sure, because the black outline is still as dark as it should be at 100. How does she manage to change the inside then?

another powerdvd question

okay i've looked for this in memories but i haven't found it, but is there anyway you can go backward by just ONE frame in powerdvd? i know you can go forward one frame by pressing T but if you do the shortcut the help file tells you, it goes back a few frames. please help!

Putting Text in the Background

I made this icon, yet I can't remember how I got "TOXIC" to be in the background. I didn't put it there first, then overlap the picture...what am I saying, gah...

Okay...I had the picture of Britney edited and everything, then I had "Toxic" and somehow could paste it as a new layer and move it around BEHIND her picture instead of on top of it.

I have no idea what I'm saying; I'm sorry.

alter ego.

full icon tutorial.

I've put together a very detailed full icon tutorial, for the icon i'm using in this post.
beware though, it's very graphics heavy, since i tried to use much visual detail as possible so that everything would be clearly understood. =D

it specifically focuses on image adjustment, texture, and light blending. with some more detail on text blending.

Photoshop 7.0 Brush Loading question

Alright, so I've looked through the memories and I can find lots of reference to loading brushes up by loading a folder and whatnot.

So I thought, "hey, thius sounds like a neat idea - I'm going to delete all the brushes I had, download them again, and organize them into folders so that I can load the "Icon Brushes" folder or the "Real Size" folder.

Now, I get into PS after deleting all my brushes from the preset manager thing, and it seems I have to load each individual brush set - I can just load my "Icon Sized" brushes all at once? Is this making sense to anyone. Does anyone know if there's a way for me to set different presets so that with the click of a button, my icon brushes are automatically in the little brushes pallette thing?

Help and thank you!
