*edit* It's the icon im showing for this entry "No power in the 'verse...."

also, if anyone has firefly icons they would like to share, or knows any websites/communities for them the info would be appreciated

Font Problem

    Heya,
I'm having a problem with a font I've installed.  Although it's showing up in programs like Microsoft Word, I can't get it to work in Photoshop.  It's appearing on the font list, but when I try to use it, the text just appears as something else (looks like a default like Arial or something). Any help would be appreciated!
PS. the font is Ugly Face

question about capping

I've looked through the memories, and I can't seem to find a post where they talked about actually capping in WinDVD, like what to do and stuff. Could someone pleaseeee tell me how you do it? Or if i just accidently skipped over it while looking in the memories, could you please link me to the post? It will be greatly appreciated =D

I is stupid. :(

Hello! I have Photoshop 7.0, and I seem to have mutilated it. I have turned off a couple of the nice helpful palettes, and every time I try to turn them back on, I just turn more off.

I have lost two things of great significance. One is:

[1] When you are cropping for icons, there used to be a palette on the upper right that would show you in inches how large your crop area was. This is helpful when trying to make square icons. I wish I could describe it better, but it’s been gone for so long I don’t remember exactly what it looks like!

[2] The other thing is the main sidebar. I was dragging an icon across the main workspace and it vanished, leaving only the eyeballmagnifyingglasslogo thing, which, when I click on it, takes me to the website.

If anyone could tell me how to fix either of these things, I’d be most grateful. Thanks in advance!

Does anyone have any links to any good PS tutorials on cartoon icons? I've been attempting to make icons from Aladdin and The Lion King and a few other Disney movies but I'm not liking the way they are turning out. And I remember a while back someone posting about making icons out of cartoons and the difference between them and ones of actual people. I can't find that post though. :| Thanks in advance!

The curse of the moving frame

Sorry if this has been asked before, I'm kinda new

So, I've been trying to make an icon like the one I have now (credit to mercuryxxrising for my current icon set) but with a Furi Kuri theme. The thing is (I use Animation Shop) when I put a frame from the clip onto the base, it seems to move up and left/right a little from where I originally put it, and I'm a perfectionist with these things, so it really irritaes me when I play the anmiation back, and the little clip moves around the base. I've tried looking at the settings and everything, but for some reason, I can't get it to stop doing that, and its really beginning to irritate me. Any help would be awesome, because I still haven't managed to make my first "movie clip" icon, and trying to figure out ImageReady seems like its going to irritate me a lot more

Question time!!

I've searched the memories TONS of times the past few days. I finally got the animated icon making down. Now I need help on making it under 40k. I saw a tutorial on that, but I'm pretty sure it was for PSP or whatever, and i'm using ImageReady.

Also, on the icon I'm using, how do you make text on it? Again, i've looked at the memories so much, that I may have over looked it, and I'm sorry if I have..

Thanks in advance.

for photoshop.

just wondering, in photoshop, how do you get your words slanted, curved, etc. like the ones in the icons in this post?

i have tried doing it using the free transform option, but it seems to make the font all blurry, grainy, and just plain ugly/not readable.

would love it if someone could help me out.

What is the best way to use the grid in PSP?

It's apparently meant to make making mini movies easier but no matter what my mini movies still remain wonkey.

Any advice?

Text-related question...

Hi, everyone! I just joined and am glad to meet everyone! Ok, I checked the memories and although I may have completely blanked on one, I'm pretty sure I couldn't find the answer to my problem. I need to know how to make the text behind a picture. Not to make it disappear anything, just to make the text appear as though written behind the picture. My second question, though related to the first, is how do I do that with a text image that has color? Is there a way to do that? I can elaborate if I didn't make myself very clear. I have a tendency of doing that. Thanks!

Bit Of A Quandry...

Hi! I've gone through the memories section (which I love, by the way, it's where I've learned most all my techniques), and couldn't find this topi I make icons, and I'm just starting to discover the wonder of gradients. The problem is, after I apply a gradient, and then apply text, the text comes out looking like this:

The text looks rather choppy, and like it hasn't been anti-aliased, at least that's how it looks to me. I don't know, maybe I'm just overly anal-retentive or something. :)

Anyway, I was wondering if anyone else has had this problem involving applying text over gradients, and what they've done to remedy it. Any help/advice/suggestions would be greatly appreciated. Thank you! :)
