outlining with PSP X

Hi, I’m new and I need some help with something. First off I want to say I’ve went through the memories and searched the posts to try and find my answer but I couldn’t so I decided to make this post. I am trying to find out how to outline a person in an icon. I am using PSP X and that is the problem. I’ve found plenty of tutorials and explanations on how to do it using other programs but not PSP X. I’ve tried and tried to figure it out on there but have come up with nothing. If somebody could help me out I’d really appreciate it. Thanks.

Wrapped Text?

I checked the memories and wasn't able to find a related post (that still worked) so...

How would I get text to follow the curve of his hair his outline? I think I faintly remember being able to use the pen tool to trace an area I want the text to go on...

Saturation Layer

A while ago, I made this icon for theriversdream:

I have completely forgotten what I used to get the effect of the icon, but I know there was a Saturation layer in there somewhere. If it is a tutorial, I would very much like the link to it ;) and any other help is appreciated. (Using Photoshop 7.0)

More Than it Seems - Kutless

(no subject)

Hey everyone, I have a question.

I looked through the memories, and I didn't see what I'm looking for. However, there's a high chance I'm blind...

Anyways, I was wondering if anyone knew of or has made tutorials on how to make greyscale icons not look dull or boring, or if someone has tips on how to avoid bland looking black and white icons. Hopefully this makes sense. Thanks to anyone who replies. I really appreciate it!

ImageReady help?

This is my first post in this community, because I am, of course, in need of assistance (and yes, I have scoured the archives, to no avail).

I'm trying to save a simple three-frame icon in ImageReady CS2, and of course need to save it as a gif. However, when I go to Save Optimized As... like you are supposed to, it only gives me the options to save as a jpg or html file, and nowhere is the option to save as a gif. Does anyone know what's wrong?

EDIT: Question has been answered! Thank you!

Icon Pattern.....

I'm trying to make background patterns for a layout I'll soon work on, and basically its like an icon (100x100) but I was wondering if there's a tutorial on this here? I think it involves filters (is there a place I can download new filters?)

I want to make a background sort of like this.

If you can help...

Tutorial - Firefly "Doctor Tam"

I use Photoshop CS2, but this should be very easily translateable to earlier versions of PS and to other graphics programs.

Remember, this is just an illustration of the techniques I use to work with color layers and textures - please use them as a guide and experiment based on them, not just to duplicate this particular icon!

In this tutorial, we'll be going from this:
