I am really sorry to ask but can anybody please give me a link to a tutorial on how to color a black and white drawing, I am using Photoshop CS2. (scanned through the memories and didn't really find it.) Help would greatly be appreciated.

Ok, this is kind of a stupid question.. but I'm trying to do this tutorial and it says to 'flood fill' the Raster Layer.. How do I do that? I'm so lost Haha.. I tried to do the 'Highlight color' or whatever it says in PSP9 and it didn't do anything.. PLEASE HELP! Haha

Help with Microsoft Picture It! Premium 10

Hi, guys. I'm new here and trying to teach myself how to make icons. Sadly, I only have Microsoft Picture It or Paint to work with at this time. I know it's not ideal, but I figure I can fiddle with it while I'm learning, at least until I can get PhotoShop or something.

Anyway, I'm attempted to make an icon from a photo. It's not a particularly good quality photo, as it came off the webcam, but I fixed it up as best as I could. I'm trying to add text, but it's hard to get it to show up against the skin in the photo. I was initially trying to use a darker pink color, which complements the border and the subject matter (pro-nursing).

I can't figure out how to get shading, which I think would help. I REALLY don't want to put the text against a colored box, because it would detract from the picture. Is this something that's just not available on Picture it? Is there anything else I could do to the text to make it stand out more? I was attempting to use Comic Sans MS, which looked like it showed up best given the size. I can't get any smaller than 8 points. I've already adjusted the pic to 100 X 100.

Anyway, I appreciate any help with this. I've looked in the Help section of Picture it, and I've also read a lot of the tutorials and the FAQ linked to the profile page. (I will fully admit that most of it - even after reading the FAQ - is WAAAAY over my head at this point).

Thanks so much in advance!

EDIT: Thanks for your help! I'm pretty pleased with the icon, and I even made it into a button. I thought I'd add it here to show how it came out. I don't think it's too bad for my first try.

Click on the button for more info, or download a great pdf overview here.

Gee, I'm on a roll ;) Anyway today we'll be learning how to make:

...from this:

I'm making this in PSP8 (should be easily translatable) and dial up users should be a little wary since I have quite a few (30 or so 100x100 images) pics in this tutorial. =]

The tutorial's over at my icon journal, iconetra However, here's a quick link http://iconetra.livejournal.com/1590.html.

Text Effects?

I'm using PSP7 and I was wondering if its possible to create this kind of text in PSP or is it strictly photoshop? [the "doesn't hurt" text]

icon by sharemyheart

I realise this sounds very vague, but the best way I can describe it is to compare it to an Icon I made, such as :
Image hosting by Photobucket
I can make the text follow a path, I need to know if its possible to get it to warp in the way the first icon did, see how its not all one size? [it warps and gets larger in the middle?] say if I wanted to make my text follow a path to the right of my Icon and I wanted it to gradually get larger as it came round - [I've tried making each letter a size bigger, but it doesn't look the same, infact it looks terrible]

I know how little sense this makes, but hopefully it'll make sense to someone who can give me a helping hand.

I use PS5, and I was wondering how you would make a rounded border in there. I've checked the memories, but they refer to a rounded rectangular marquee tool, which I am pretty sure I don't have.

I tried increasing the feather of my rectangular marquee tool, and that made it round, but then when I try to use my paintbucket, pencil, or paintbrush on it, it doesn't make a clean border, since it's, well, feathering, for lack of a better term. XD

My apologies if this has been posted before, (which it most likely has), I tried to check the memories as thoroughly as possible.

Thank you!

unwanted line around icon

Just today when I started doing some iconing in Photoshop, after I'd do my main base work, an obnoxious line (almost looks like a white line set to overlay or something) started showing up around my icons. I have an example below. I didn't change anything in my cropping habits, so I'm just really confused why this is happening. I've placed my unfinished icon within a black box so you can see what I mean.

Mucho thanks in advance! ♥ ♥

Using Channels to help select fine details

A number of people have been asking variations of this question in my graphics communities lately. In my other journal, I have written up a trick I use that can help with removing backgrounds or colorization in Photoshop. (I use PS CS at the moment, but I've been using this trick since PS5)
