I apologize that this is sort of unrelated, but does anyone know of a community (or site) that has tutorials for layouts rather than icons, using the same techniques? Thanks in advance.

I have two questions, both regarding Photoshp CS. I'm not new to making icons, but I haven't made them in a while. So starting with the basics:

- How do you make an icon colorless (black and white) without "desaturating?" What other methods are there so you can still keep the clarity of the icon?

- How can I make icons colors look smooth and clean? Like in my current icon, colors are vibrant and and the image is sharp. I'd like to avoid the blur tool/over sharpening for bettering the skin tone.

If someone could point me towards some tutorials (I know I've seen some recently, but I went back a few pages and I couldn't find them) I would greatly appreciate it. ^_^

I'm using Paint Shop Pro 9 and it refuses to let me resize, sharpen, blur, soften, and god knows what else. It worked last time I used it but I just opened it today and it won't let me. I have no idea what's going on. Help?

EDIT: problem fixed, thanks everyone.

I was looking through tutorials this morning, and now when I've come back to look again and try it out, I can't find the one I want, and I can't for the life of me remember just where I found this tutorial. It was a still PoA icon of Dumbledore and was about how to bring out the colour from a really dark picture. If anyone remembers what tutorial I'm talking about and could point me in the right direction I would be very grateful, thanks.

this isn't a request for a specific effect or coloring on an icon or anything like that but I hope it's still okay to post this here. It's regarding brushes. See, a while ago I had a lot of brushes on PS7 that I wasn't using so I decided to clean up that folder. While doing that I haven't realized something and now I can't find them back so I'm turning to you. In my deletion I also took out the default brushes that come with the program and I'm not too sure if I can find them anywhere. They're completely gone. Is there a place, like a webpage or even a kind soul that could help me retrive them? I'd hate to have to reload the entire program and loose all other brushes I saved up with time.

Anyone? Please?
