Kingdom Hearts II Icon Tutorial -- Kairi

This is my first tutorial, so feel free to tell me what doesn’t make sense and I’ll be sure to fix it right away. :D Made for PS7, but doesn’t use curves and should be compatible with other programs. It’s fairly easy but you should have some basic knowledge of Photoshop. Anything you don’t get, just ask!

We’ll be going from this to this .

Let me know how helpful this was for you -- I’d love to see the results when you’re done.

Also, does anybody remember an animated tutorial? It had Kaylee from Firefly withthat dress she had from "Shindig" and it pans from her to the dress and says something along the lines of "Sweet girl, terrible taste in clothes"?. I'd like to add it to my tutorial index.

Hi guys!

I have a question...but it's kinda hard to explain so I will do my best. I know to make round edges to an icon. To make them, I use the quick mask tool, like this:

But if the icon was on a colored background like so:

Then how to you get rid of those ugly white corners? Thanks! I use PS CS.

Where can I find smooth half-transparent gradients? Or how can I make them myself?
I deleted the only half-transparent gradient I had by accident, and I need it to fade images..

Help appreciated! :D

hey gays n gals! I've been hunting for a tutorial from a few months or so ago and either I've gone barmy or my eyes have gone so crossed I can't see it! The thing is...I have no idea who made it except that twas definitely on this community, and I *think* it might have been their first tutorial. If you made the tutorial or could point me in the direction of it I'd be forever grateful and send lots of cyber chocolate and hugs and loving and you get the deal :P The icon winds up looking like this -->

Hey everyone! I'm new to the community so I thought I would just say a quick hello. Anyway, I was trying to add text to one of the icons I was making, but the text itself wont show up on the actual icon. It will, however, show up on the palette in the right corner, showing that the text layer is there...so is there something I'm doing wrong or is this normal? I'm currently using Photoshop CS2 on a Mac, but I also have Photoshop 7 on Windows if that helps...Thanks!
