Hi there! I'm brand new to this community and I've found the memories extremely helpful. How sad is it that I've been making icons for two years without ever reading an image prep for screencap post? Anyway, 99% of my questions about icons have been answered, but I still have one problem:

I use PS7 CS. The posts on coloring have been immensely helpful, but my issue is redheaded females. If the actress is blonde/pale-skinned or dark-haired/pale-skinned, it's just a matter of levels, brightening or contrast. With redheads, however, it seems like the beige of the skin has so much red in it that trying to bring out the brilliant red of the hair ruins the skin. Does anyone have any tips on how to avoid this? I've tried saturating the hair by hand, but I'm admittedly a novice (and not great at that much precision) and hoping there's a better way.

Thank you very much.

Editing Text

This is probably a really easy thing to do but... I've been making manips for a short time now but there's one thing I especially want to do that I haven't figured out. I've noticed some people are able to actually change the text in a picture (such as a movie poster) using the exact same font that was originally there. How do you do that?

I have Photoshop CS and Paint Shop Pro 8

Thanks in advance to anyone who can help!

How to make this with Photoshop 7

Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting

>>Here<<

Specifially for videogame caps with red, orange or yellow saturation, it'll probably work with other images, maybe not as well though. Also there are a lot of curves and other adjustment layers.

Ok, i have two questions. One is based on the colouring of icons, and another to do with icons, but more of a "where" question.

1. How do i get the colouring on these icons
- (unmasked_icons
- (ticktockicons
Basically how to get decent colouring on disney caps. :)

2. Does anyone know where i can get the mini movies like on these icons, without having to cap them myself. Is there a website where i can get them from or a community? I know how to add them to icons, i just dont know anywhere where i can get the little movie bits. Hope that makes sense :)

Quick Mask tutorial

Created this based on another question in the comm, where she asked:

"With redheads, however, it seems like the beige of the skin has so much red in it that trying to bring out the brilliant red of the hair ruins the skin. Does anyone have any tips on how to avoid this? I've tried saturating the hair by hand, but I'm admittedly a novice (and not great at that much precision) and hoping there's a better way."

ETA: This was done in Photoshop 7.

This will work with any image where you want to change levels, or curves but not on the entire image.

I love quick masks, and use them often. The best thing about them is that once you've created them, they're saved in your channels palette, and you can reuse them later for layer masks or other selection-dependent changes.

We'll go from this:

to this:

Once you've mastered Quick Masks, you'll start to think about other ways you can use them. In complicated images, I'll often have 5-10 masks in my Channels palette, so that I can use those selections later.

Hope this helps!

Text problem in GIMP

Hi everyone. I've been having a problem with fonts in GIMP. For some reason, any fonts I have installed to my laptop won't show up in GIMP. The fonts will show up in Photoshop CS2 on the same computer however, and installed fonts will work in GIMP on my desktop computer. The only thing I can think of is that I have a wrong setting in GIMP somewhere.

If anyone could help, that would be greatly appreciated. Thanks in advance!

PROBLEM SOLVED! Thanks ressie_noldo!

question!!

Okay I have a question

I use Photoshop 7.0 and I was wondering if there is sometime similar to 'Automatic Saturation Enhancement' on photoshop 7.0 ? I have seen that on a lot of tutorials that are really nice and you know, I was just wondering if such a thing existed on my program?

BUT! Those lines going across are driving me up the wall. I think that they came from the scanner that well, scanned them. I don't know. All I'd like to know is how to I get rid of them or at least hide them?

Please and thank you!!!!!

I'm not sure if this is against the rules to ask since it doesnt really involve icons fully. So, sorry if its against rules >.<.  But theres this weird problem when i try to type text on my graphic it appears so tiny you cant even see it when its set on say font size 24 you cant even see it.  the only way i can see my font is when i set it at the maximum 1296. but thats ridiculous and i dont know whats wrong with it! ive tried restarting photoshop and that doesnt work. i didnt even mess with any of the settings, this just randomly happened. Please, please, please someone help me. Thanks <3
