Photoshop 8 Help? (Brushes)

All I read about in the memories was PS7 but unfortunately I have PS8 and I have no idea what to do. Ergo I have a few questions:

~Is there some kind of specific file for brushes that I should be looking for?
~When I find brushes how do I get them?
~After I get them how do I get them into PS and get them to work?

Anyone who can help me with this is my new best friend, a hero to us all, and an all around genius. I will love you eternally.

Hello everyone!

I have a question about icon clarity. I cannot seem to make icon pictures seem clear. You know how some people take a screenshot or a sort of blurry picture and magically transform it into something that looks like they just shot it with a high-quality camera? I can't do that. How do I make my pictures look more natural, yet clear?

Icon with Glitter Text

I was reading all memories, but i'm still looking for a good tutorial to create an icon (or image) with glitter text. If it's possible, something with PS and IR. If i made only glitter text, it's easy, but if i add an image with text...the result isn't as good as i would. Thank you in advance for any help. :)

Question

This is a very sad question for me to ask, as I've been making graphics for over a year. How do you outline a person? I know you have to use the pen tool (I rarely use that tool, so I dunno much about it), but which settings do I have to use? I use PSP 8, btw. Cause everytime I try, it doesn't turn out right. I want something like this (see how Hilary's outlined?)...

And I also wanna know how you get these squiggly lines (the red and blue ones around the middle picture of Emma)...

Both of the banners were made by luna_ann, btw. Well, thanks in advance! :)

Bright colouring, textures, and text decoration.

Program used: PSP 8.
Translateable in other programs?: Most likely, specifically older and newer versions of PSP, as well as adobe photoshop.
Skill level: Advanced.

No curves!

NOTE: THIS WILL *NOT* WORK FOR EVERY ICON. IF YOU'RE DYING FOR IT TO LOOK EXACTLY THE SAME, TRY TO GET A BASE SIMILAR TO THE ONE I'M USING OR MAKE IT THE SAME COLOR/DARKNESS BEFORE YOU BEGIN.

Cropping Tutorial

Hello everybody :) This is my first tutorial ... it's about cropping out a certain figure so that you can paste it onto a different background or something. Ummm, I don't really know what elese to say about it, I think it explains itself.

I use Photoshop CS2 but the tutorial is definately transelateable :)

See it here at my icon journal!

I am currently using PSP8 and have a question regarding general graphics, not just specifically icons. I was wondering if anyone ever works with concert photos in making their graphics. I do a lot of wallpapers, and while I wouldn't consider myself bad, I definitely have a lot to learn. I'd like to use various tutorials I've seen around on some wallpapers, but I find that the coloring of concert photos are often so strange that normal tutorials end up messing up the pictures more. I do fine with studio photography, but I don't have access to hi-res pictures of the band I like to make stuff for, just concert photography. And those lights just make graphic stuff horrible.

So does anyone have any experience with using concert photography in graphics, especially wallpapers (Though icon help would work too)? Any and all help would be appreciated.

Or if anyone could point me in the right direction, that'd be great!!
