Ballet Azure

(no subject)

Hello everyone. I have the go ahead from etoilepb to ask this question, so here goes:

Is there anyone here who is familiar with Macromedia Fireworks? This is my graphics editor, and I do love it, but unfortunately there seems to be a dearth of articles, information, and tutorials designed for this program.

I am moderately familiar with the layout and tools, but there is a point up to which I cannot follow tutorials designed for Photoshop or other programs.

There are certain techniques specific to Photoshop or PSP that I cannot duplicate exactly. Layer effects such as "Soft light", "Color burn", "Desaturate". With some experimentation I have been able to learn to make similar effects, but if there is anyone out there more familiar with the program, I would welcome most gladly and Any advice, walkthroughs, tutorials, general advice would be more than welcome. Thank you in advance!

New Tutorial - Masking Basics

Hello everyone!

There is a new tutorial up at Icondoit! for your learning enjoyment.

The tutorials at Icondoit! have always been aimed at PS7 beginners. However, masking in itself is not really a beginner technique, so this tutorial is a little more advanced than the other ones, and does assume some knowledge. I kept it as straight-forward as possible though.

The tutorial covers Quick masking, Layer masking and Masking brushes.

If you have any comments, questions, or suggestions, speak up!

I have seen some entries in the memories about capping, but I didn't see one addressing what I'd like to know.

I had PowerDVD7 trial version on my computer, and it just ended. I had the Version 6 trial before (long ago before my computer crashed); but now I cant find it on the web. So I have two questions for anyone who may help?

1) Are there any other capping programs that will allow me to take rapid screencaps (enabeling me to make clips for animated graphics like http://www.livejournal.com/userpic/49136640/3931270 [by twoonefour])?
2)Is there a way to get PowerDVD Version 6--everywhere I looked says that it's upgraded to Version 7.

Sorry if I bothered you -_-;

Making crappy caps less so?

Ok guys, I'm at the end of my rope. I've fiddled around in both PSP and PS7, and I can't find a thing that helps.

I have this cap;

Yes, crappy, I know. I'm trying.

So, any ideas on how to make it less crappy?

I've got this so far, but I'm not happy with it at all.

Ninja-type edit: Woah, you guys are awesome! I'm taking a few, playing with them, and seeing if I like the end product. I'll post it here.

Tutorial #1 - Coloring Black & White Icons

This is my first tutorial so go easy. :) It pretty simple, just steps to coloring black and white icons. I try to make it look as realistic as possible.
I'm using PSP8 but it will most likely work in all other programs. Comment to let me know what you think and suggestions/critism are
good too. Also, I'd like to see what you all got as a result.

From this b&w image to this nicely colored one.

hey all. i just upgraded my machine (but am using the same dvd drive as before) and reloaded powerdvd to do some capping but im running into a slight issue.

normally, i'd get to my scene, hit 'C', hit 'T' (frame advance) a couple of times and repeat. but im noticing that often times one of the following will happen.

-i'll hit 'C' and not only does it cap, but it jumps forward a frame or few.
-i'll hit 'T' and it jumps forward a random number of frames. sometimes just one or two, sometimes as many as 5 or 6.

obviously, this makes capping animations really difficult.

any ideas how to fix it? it never used to do this.

(btw, im at work and dont remember my exact version of powerdvd, but its a pretty recent version)

.JBR files in PSPX?

I've looked through the memories and searched google but haven't found anything.

I've made brushes and saved them as PspScript but most people seem to use .JBR files. Can you save brushes as .JBR in PSP X? And if so, how can I do this?
