Coloring Tutorial

This is my first tutorial!

Technically, this image is...just an image, but this tut is mainly for coloring...
The technique works with avatars too.

Featuring: Levels Layer, Hue/Saturation layer, and lot's of duplicate layers...

I wouldn't say it's beginner friendly, but it's not really hard. Intermediate level...I guess.

I use Photoshop Elements 4.0, but it should be translatable...(PSP has Hue/Saturation layers and Levels layers, right?)

So go on over to the fake cut! [Warning: Image Heavy]

Please help-help found, thanks

I have PS Elemnts 4, and I have a small but kind of urgent question.
Whenever I open up the program, I can no longer see Layers in the Palette Bin. They used to be right under styles and effects, but it is no longer there. I looked through the archives and foung nothing. Any help is appreciated.

P.S Here is the link to what I see : http://img204.imageshack.us/img204/3271/helpjr1.png

Thanks =]

EDIT- Found help thanks!!!

Saving in Photoshop

I am so sorry to ask this here, I feel naughty but didn't know where else to ask.

When saving images in Photoshop I have to find the folder I want to save in each time (it doesn't go to save where I last saved) and I always have to choose .PNG from the drop down menu.

Is there any way to make this happen automatically so I can just go save -> ok? It's just a little annoying.

image tutorial #1

My first IMAGE tutorial, without actually using icon size :D
Go from Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us to Free Image Hosting at www.ImageShack.us in PSPX. (The images are thumbnails; click for full size)

Easily translated to other versions of PSP. Translatable to PS and GIMP if you know the equivalent of tetxture preserving smooth.

looking for tutorials

I want to try making some icons with mini movies in them, but not just a boring box in the corner... I'd like to know how I can put the animation in different shapes, like maybe a star, heart, or have jagged edges around it. Something that makes it stand out a bit more. Anyone have any ideas? Thanks!

I was wondering if anyone had an idea as to how I can acheive this colouring. I've been trying different layer combinations out but I just can't seem to get things right.

Selective coloring look in PSP9

Yeah, yeah, yeah...I know everyone's tired of selective coloring tutorials and questions. The only problem is there are people who don't have PS and not a lot of tutorials for them. So here's one. I know a lot of people hate dislike the selective coloring look, but some people like it. So if you don't, no need to leave snarky comments about it. Different strokes for different folks, right?

From THIS to THIS in PSP9 (translatable I think)
