Does anyone know where I can find a tutorial for animated icons like the one I'm using here? I thought it might be fun to try and make some.

Cyan/Green coloring inquiry

Hi there. I was wondering if by chance one of you can help me. Usually I try to figure things out by myself and in some cases I'm sucessful, in others I'm not and I just move on. However, in this case - I don't want to move on, heh. I was wondering if someone would mind giving me any suggestions in how I can go about achieving a coloring similiar to the one below.

I have PSP8 and PSCS, however PSP8 is my program of choice, so I would rather recieve suggestions not involving Selective Coloring, if possible. I'll still take suggestions for PS, as I can occassionally translate them, PSP8 tips are just preferred. =o)

Here is what I have tried (incase it helps any):
- - This tutorial of mine, but with pale green/cyan being my main focus instead of blue.
- Using the Green/Cyan in the Shadows only of Color Balance/Levels with tan multiplied layers.

Nothing is anything near it however.

And before anyone asks, the maker (who I believe is crisbr but I may be mistaken), is having computer problems and hasn't had access to one since Sept, thus the suggestion of "have you asked the maker?" will be pointless. I did think of that though, =o).

Hope someone can help, thanks and advance.

ACK, I hate to ask this, but I swear I just spent close to an hour searching all over the place for this and I can't find it.

Anybody know where that tutorial is with the cartoon character holding a lighter and the flame actually looks like its burning? Or anything similar? I'd be so grateful! Thanks.

Effective text

I haven't been into icons for too long-- a little bit earlier this year, and again now--but my biggest problem has always been text. I just can't make it work, especially not in comparison to some of the gorgeous icons out there! I've read through the icon_tutorial memories, but I'm still completely at a loss. I know that there's no one way to make text look good, so what are some of everyone's favorites? I struggle with making it stand out or even be visible, as well as making it blend. Do you use mask brushes? Outlines? Is it in font selection or color? Opacity? I'd just like to have some ideas, because I hate text with a passion but I don't want it to be that way. I'm completely lost on where to begin, though.

Just in case it makes a difference, I'm using Photoshop CS on OS X.

Cross-posted to toon_tutorials, because that's my main focus.

I'm wondering how one with PSPx would go about making an icon like this? Photobucket - Video and Image Hosting [I'm really sorry, but I don't have the name of the person who made thisD:, if anyone knows, please, tell me.D:]

Thanks in advance for any advice.
