this isn't really about making icons, just wondering i wondered how to make a tutorial like on the main page it has "teaser icons" and a link underneath to the rest of them.

I really need to know how to do that

Icon Coloring Question

I'm sure you lot are getting sick of folks asking questions about colorings on certain icons, probably even more so sick of those asking for colorings now that are probably answered already, yet hidden somewhere in the depths of icon_tutorial. (I did go back a few months to see if an icon similar to this one was asked about, but didn't have much success.) With that said, I hope somebody is still willing to help me out. :)

The icon I'm wondering about the coloring on is this one:

created by jasoncourtney

Before you ask, yes, I asked the creator first before coming here. She said she used some layering techniques and curves, however she didn't know how to take screenshots to let me know what she did exactly. I'm pretty sure there's a burn layer of light blue, an exclusion layer, and the Saturation beefed up a bit, but that's all that's registering in my head.

I use Paint Shop Pro 7 and I don't know what program was used to create the icon shown above.

Any help would be greatly appreciated. Thank you. :)

PSP Help, please :)

If this isn't the right place to post this, my apologies. I just had no idea where to ask and thought maybe someone here might know.

My PSP Layer Palette has gone wonky on me, and I have no idea how it happened, or how to fix it. Right now it looks like this:

...and I'm sure we all know that it's supposed to have the layer names on the right hand side so I can switch layers or make them invisible. But now I can't and it's driving me absolutely insane because I can't do anything now. :( I remember this happening to me a few years ago, but I'm not 100% sure how I fixed it. I vaguely recall someone sending me some special file (workplace file? something like that), and then I opened in my PSP and it fixed it. So yeah. If anyone knows how to help me, or could point me in the direction of someone who might be able, that would be wonderful and I'd really appreciate it! :D

resizing in PSP X

I need help again. (sorry!! LOL) I'm having trouble resizing pictures to 100 by 100. when i make the image size 100 by 100, it makes it so i can only pick a portion of the picture, not the whole picture. how do i resize the WHOLE pic????

I don't know if this is even the best place to ask this, so I apologize if it isn't. But which is better, Photoshop Elements 5.0 or Photoshop CS2? And is Photoshop hard to figure out? I've had PSP8 for almost two years now and I'm a little apprehensive to switch. Thanks for your input!

I was wondering if anyone knew why, when I try and save a animated icon in Adobe Imageready 7.0.1 the only options I have for 'saving as optimized' are .png and .html? How come I can't save as .gif?

edit: When I save optimized the quality came out really really grainy. How do I avoid this?

Three Tutorials for Photoshop CS

Ok, these are my first tutorials. I hope you like them, they cover three different styles. They are all for Photoshop CS, but tutorial #1 is translatable to PSP and probably to other programs as well. Tutorial #2 and #3 use curves and selective color. It will be easier if you already have some experience with layers blending.

TUTORIAL #1  Lost in Translation

TUTORIAL #2 Harry Potter and the Sorcerer's Stone

TUTORIAL #3 Harry Potter and the Order of the Phoenix

How would one go about making stuff like this

[credit goes to maker]

not the exact kind of thing, but like, the shadows and the shading and the coloring and how to draw it maybe, and if someone could point me in the direction of a tutorial, that'd be awesome or something. THANKS! Ha.

see the flowers? How would I get that sort of going from one color/fading into the other/watercolorish look?

I use photoshop CS2
