Photoshop Help

Hi, I have checked the tutorials and I am almost sure no one has asked this =) I have just switched from Paint Shop Pro to Photoshop CS2 and and a little confused, can someone explain to me how to do a flood dill a new layer? it was so easy in PSP, and right now I am baffled!!

Before I know my way around PS enough on my own, and know what things do, I have been following tutorials exactly, so I can see what results I get!
I have been trying to use images of the same colours (or at least close) to those from the tutorials, and things just don't turn out anything like the icon I’m copying lol. How come when people add lots of layer fills, the people’s skin colour doesn't change dramatically to some god-awful colour like when I do? I don’t know if I have explained myself enough, if anyone out there is helpful enough to want to show me or follow a tutorial with me, I’d love it!

Here is the picture I'm starting with!!!

and this is a similar tutorial as to what I was trying

Am I being completely stupid? when I do it, his skin goes all blue and it's not cute lol!!

I always wondered how people could forget how they made an Icon but I've managed to join the club ;) I started
this icon --->Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket a few weeks ago and aparently my PSD file has been deleted some how and all I have is a merged PNG copy :(

I cannot for the life of me figure out how I made it...I know I sort of used a couple of tutorials mashed together but I can't remember what ones.

anyone wanna give it a go?

Screencapping in WMP

I know this question has been asked before but the solution won't work. I have done the tools >> options>> Performance and all that, but it won't work. When I followed the tips in THIS topic, They still didn't work. I have been trying real hard but it doesn't want to screen cap. It just post the black blank screen. Please and thank you.

I use Photoshop CS, and lately I've been noticing that when I save an icon (as .png or any other format), the colors of the saved file turn out slightly different than the way it appears on my screen in Photoshop.

I even did a screen check, but I can't seem to find what's wrong. Would anyone know how to fix this?

[Edit] Thanks everyone for the suggestions! It seems Photoshop itself is the source of the problem: the colors inn the saved files are the real ones, the way Photoshop displays them is off! I don't know what it is I did (or didn't), but the problem seems to be solved now. :)
