ask the experts

I've been working thru the tutorials in the archives re b/w pics - sharpening them, and balancing the contrast, etc...the images I'm working with, though, are mostly vintage photos (WWII era scans of newspaper photos) and I'm new enough at this to wonder if, when I don't get the results I'm looking for, its me or the base image or the method I've chosen or all of the above...

can someone suggest which procedure(s) work best for older b/w's?

Help loading brushes please!

First off, let me tell you that I have looked through the memories, and haven't seen what I need. Here is the problem: I download the new abr brush set and put it in the correct folder (C:\Program Files\Adobe\Photoshop 7.0\Presets\Brushes). This much I have learned, but from what I can tell on all help sites and tutorials, this should be it. I should now have access to the new brushes when I open photoshop and use the brush pallet. However, they are not there. Can anyone help with this?

Also, I would like to say that you guys have awesome coloring tutorials, and I am so excited to have found you!

help me?

okay, i was just wondering if anyone knows how to make this coloureffect?  i found it when i was watching some blendchallenges. i have no idea who made it.

please help me.
