elementary- holmes and watson 2

Does anybody have any idea?

I was working in PS7 earlier today and I had no problem. But when I was working with it just now, I went to add text to my icon, but all of my fonts are gone! My font list on PS only goes up to the letter G. The fonts are still in my font folder, but they're not in PS. Has this happened to anyone before? Is there a way to fix it?  I checked the troubleshooting section in the mems but couldn't find anything.

Thanks in advance!

A Little Help Please...

I having been looking all over the place for paint swipes, or smears, or whatever they're called and can't find anything and can't figure out how to do it. The only thing I've been able to find are paint smears for PS. I was wondering if someone could help me, please!

The red swipe here is kinda what I'm looking for. by gilkurtis

Saving a file problem!

Ok so I checked the memories and didn't see anything on this, I may just not have looked hard enough so I'm sorry if this has been brought up before.

I use photoshop 6.0!
K there is this pic I want to save off the web and make something out of it, when I save it, it will only save as 2 file types. GIF and BMP even though it isn't an animation. When I open it up in photoshop, I can't edit it! It won't let me duplicate the image, it won't let me make a new layer, it wont let me do anything except rotate the image, I can't even move it onto a new window!

Please does anyone know what to do? Any help will be greatly appreciated!

VirtualDub and Xvid

Hello everyone!

I have been using Virtual Dub for some time now and find it wonderful...except I find out that it won't open xvid files. Is there a way around this? Or a place to get codex so VirtualDub will open the file? Is there a program that is similar to VirtualDub that can open Xvid files?

I'm trying to make phone themes for Fred (my phone), and I was wondering if you could help me out by pointing me in the direction of some really great tutorials you've used to make your icons, banners, headers, wallpapers, etc.

I'm not talking of just coloring, but tutorials (or maybe even COMMUNITES, as LJs new search function is terrible) that use brushes, textures and effects?

Thank you!

Mods, if this isn't allowed, please let me know and I'll take this post down. Thanks!

Finally, a use for luminosity layers!

So. You've got a screencap that begs to be iconned, but the contrast is very high and you want to bring out the details in the dark, murky areas without the lighter areas becoming blindingly bright. Lowering the contrast doen't always get good results, so recently I've been using a nifty trick involving a luminosity layer. This doesn't seem to feature often in tutorials, so I thought I'd make a tutorial to share the technique with others.

I use Photoshop CS and this tutorial uses selective colour, colour balance and curves, but those are just for my personal colour-tweaking preferences and aren't necessary for the luminosity-based trickery, so the essence of it should be roughly translatable to other programs.

We will be going from to and the tutorial is here.

I've looked all over to find out how to do this, but I must be looking wrongly as I can't find anything.

I want to learn how I can make an icon just like this one Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket(made by __iiicons) in Paint Shop Pro 7. Can it possibly be done?

I would also like to learn how to get a make text look just like this Photo Sharing and Video Hosting at Photobucket (made by __iiicons, again using PSP7.

Sorry if I've not looked hard enough and there are already existing tutorials.
