In need of assistance please XD

Okay, I checked the memories but I'm not even sure what to look for so I just decided to bite the bullet and post the issue.

My friend is having a problem with his Line tool and I have no idea how to help. He just wants to make a line which is understandable if he's using the Line tool but he keeps getting

shape. All his setting are identical to mine so it should work, but it doesn't :/

So, does anyone have any advice as to what is wrong? Any help is much appreciated.

Thanks in advance.

Sooo, before I forget I'm using PSCS.

Basically, I made myself a new user info banner, which I have underneath the cut as it's a bit large. I've been using various versions of Photoshops for the past four years, and PSCS since it's release and I've never had this problem before. I don't know, maybe it's my eyes. When I flattened the image and saved it as a .jpg, the font seemed to get rougher and more pixilated. It's the most noticeable on the t. So I'm wondering, what do I do to make it a lot smoother, but still readable (or as readable as that font is?). I tried blurring it, but it made it completely illegable. I know it's a tiny thing, but it bugs me... I like a smooth font.

Banners

What is the default size of banners? I would like to make some but i don't know what size to use. Also, are banners and headers the same thing?

Capping Photoshop for tuts

I've seen so many tutorials that use images along with the icon their making to help explain stuff. Like for instance if they need to tell someone to use the crop tool, they somehow are able to show a little picture of it so that they don't have to describe what it looks like and where exactly it is on your tools pallet. I've also seen alot of people put a picture at the bottom of their tut showing all the layers the person should have when they are done with the tut they just took so my question is...how can I do this?! I love making tutorials but I find it hard to explain myself sometimes and hard to make the complex tuts when I don't have photoshop visuals to help people go by.

Does anyone have any idea how to cap photoshop?
Hope I explained myself clearly. :)

btw I don't know if this is relivant but I use Photoshop 6.0

I'm not sure if I can ask this here. If I can't, let me know & I'll delete it.

But...Does anyone know what this means when it pops up in Adobe Photoshop? And how can I fix it?

Thanks in advance!

Soften tool in Photoshop CS3?

I've checked the memories and can't find what I'm looking for in there but not too long ago I switched over from PSPX to Photoshop CS3. In PSP I used to be able to soften the skin in an icon using the soften tool but I can't seem to find the soften tool in PS, I'm not sure if I'm missing it or if it's called something different but I miss it so could anyone help me please?
