What qualifies as (not) translatable?

Unless I'm blind, I didn't see this in the archives...I'm thinking of writing a couple of tutorials here and there for making icons in PSPXI. However, I'm not familiar with Photoshop - what cannot be translated from PSPXI to PS? Is there anything? (There's the whole selective coloring thing unique to only PS, but I don't need to know what can't be translated the other way around.) Furthermore, is there anything that cannot be translated from PSPXI to older versions of PSP?

Thanks in advance!

EDIT: Thanks, guys, you've been a lot of help!

I need help

Ok, i've been searching through the memories, and can't seem to find help for my particular problem.

I need help making icons (like the one i'm using for this entry) using Photoshop CS3. I see loads of tuts for making them with IR, but since CS3 doesn't have that anymore, i'm stuck. So, if anyone out there can help me....i'd so appreciate it!!

Making greens greener!

Hey all!

Today we'll be going from this to house3x17_0613-2.png image by OperaticXingenue and focus on making the greens pop. Okay, fine. This one focuses on the red and blues too--but not as much as the greens! :D

Sorry for being so nerotic and weird. I haven't had a House episode in two weeks and I'm going through withdrawl symptoms. XD I think I need rehab. X_X! </rambling>.

(no subject)

Hi all.

I know people ask about this all the time, but I've never found a tut that actually works. I use PS6, and I'd like to know if there are PS6 tuts for making textures such as these (and the ones used in):

Question about Image Ready

I have been using IR for a while that I forgot the options I had it, however today all my options disappeared and nothing is there but the default ones. So I made an animation like usual but when I saved it and check it it wasn't the same, it only plays half of it and only once...it stops =(

Coloring, Light Effects & Blending into Black

Hi! I'm not new to Photoshop but I was wondering if you could help me with a few things.

I would like to know how to achieve the coloring and light effects on the first icon and how to blend the black at the bottom of both icons that perfectly with the rest of the image (the second icon shows this more clearly, I think). I've tried using textures and brushes for this but the contrast between the black part and the color of the icons always comes out very harsh. I wanted to recreate the "smoothness" of the b&w icon. Perhaps I just didn't use the right texture, I don't know. I appreciate all the help you might give me. I hope I made myself understood clearly. Thanks in advance!

cleaning up fuzzy screencaps.

I'm fairly new to photoshop, and just recently have learned that sharpening doesn't always work for cleaning up fuzzy images and screencaps.
For example, on this image.

It's really stumping me how to clean up this image, and I have read one or two tutorials as of yet that didn't achieve that clean, sharp, desired effect.
If anyone has any tips for me, or a link to a tutorial that you have memmed,  it would be such a great help.
