I'd like to color these dark icons (and some others under the cut), but I haven't found good tutorials yet. More under the cut. ;)

Can someone help me with this? I have Photoshop CS2. Thanks for any help!

PS - textures

I've been using GIMP for years now and now have that mastered so I got Photoshop CS and I've figured out pretty much everything like selective coloring and things...

But I can't figure out how to open textures as a new layer...

Do you have to load them? If so how?

Or can you just open them like in GIMP?

I appreciate any help. I've searched the archives but couldn't find anything...

Hello, i made a gif today from an even bigger gif :x and ermm it's now icon sized. I've finally got it done but when i preview it in my browser it's ridiculously grainy i looked through the memories and most of them said you either have to resize the animation layers or reduce image quality but i have no idea how to do that in imageready 7.0 o_o please help. I really don't want to resize the animation(gif) because i don't plan on using it on lj i just want it to be smooth no grainyness.

Here's my gif:

This has probably been asked a million times...

But, which program would you recommend? Paint Shop Pro or Photo shop? I have quite a bit of experience with PSP, and I LOVE it. Though my trial period just ran out, and I lost the PSP7 disk I had from awhile ago. However, I just started messing around with Photoshop for the first time. I can't figure out a whole lot about it, its complicated! Any tips/websites/advice in general for either one? How much did YOU pay for the version of Photoshop or PSP that you have? I'm just curious because I'm going to get either one or the other at the end of the month and figured I'd ask before I buy.

Selecting and coloring animations

I have 2 questions regarding animated icons. I use adobe imageready and cannot find the option of how to select all the frames. There is select -> all, but that does not actually end up selecting all, it only selects the first frame.

I also want to add effects to it, ie brighten it up and add coloring. I cannot find any options to do so...does this mean I have to grow through the long process of coloring each frame individually in photoshop and then putting the frames back together?

Thanks for any help.
p.s. I checked the memories, and couldn't find what I was looking for.

I made an animation on imageready and when i pressed play the picture looked good and everything and then when i saved it looked like this:

And in the end its supposed to be text, and the background i made isnt even pink, it was orange with yellow lines.
does anyone know what happened and how i can change it?
