Layer mask question

Question: is there any way to copy a layer mask onto another layer?

Example:

In this icon, I placed a texture over the image and masked out the part where Randall is (the monster's name, in case you haven't seen the movie). I then put a gradient layer over that for colouring, but again didn't want it to colour Randall, so I masked it out. Would there have been a way to duplicate the layer mask from the texture and put it on the gradient layer, so I didn't have to paint the same mask over again?

coloring help

I found some really nice icons and I love the coloring but I can't figure it out for the life of me.
I also have absolutely no clue who the makers are, so if anyone knows that would be really helpful as well.

How can I achieve this coloring? I have PSCS2 & PSP9.

Edit: I came up with something pretty close using one of my own tutorials (here), however it's not as colorful as that one is and as "vibrant" I guess you could say. So that's pretty much what I want.

Blue Screencaps

I'm having some problems working with blue screencaps and trying to get a normal looking skin colour. I've tried several times but I haven't had any satisfactory results. Would anyone be able to point me in the direction of some tutorials for removing the blue in screencaps or to give me pointers/tips? I'd prefer anime tutorials, but I'll try real-life tutorials. Thanks. :3 (I'm working with Photoshop CS2, by the way).

Here's an example of what I'm working with:

Help anyone?

So, I need some help on how to do this...

So, I'm making a header. But, I wanna put an animation in there, too.  Enough to fill in the example spot in the example header below.

Can anyone make a tutorial, or guide me through this? r if it's even possible to do such a thing in Image Ready from PhotoshopCS2? I want the area to be etched out, and to make the animation flash in, then fade out and look consistantly good.

Please Help

I'm very, very new to icon making and I've read through a lot of posts on this community, but I haven't found any that pertain to what I use and what I need, though I've found most of the tutorials wonderful.

I use Paint.net and I like it because it's pretty easy to use. However, I like to make icons from mangas and they are all black and white. I would like to be able to color the icons I make without making them look awful.

Example:

This to this.

I like the way the colored icon looks. The colors are great and they look like someone took colored pencils to it. Are there any tutorials available for coloring icons in Paint.net? I do have Gimp, but I have no idea how to use it and find Paint.net a lot easier.

Thanks in advance!
