Very Basic Questions for CS Newbie

I've been using Photoshop Elements for about three years and I recently upgraded to CS2 and I have two very simple questions and I'm sure the solutions are so obvious, but I have tried everything and searched the Memories, but couldn't find what I was looking for.

1. How do I rename a layer? I've right-clicked on the layer I want to rename and I didn't see anything. EDIT: Solved. Thank you!

2. How do I group layers together? I want to blend with a gradient. I have my texture layer on top of my gradient layer. But when I click Cntrl + G, a folder comes up in the layers palette, but nothing happens with the layers themselves. What do I have to do to get the texture grouped with the gradient so that the texture fades in my graphic?

EDIT: Solved. Thanks again!

Thanks in advance for any help!

Couple months ago I have seen here a very nice colouring tutorial, but unfortunately can't find it now or remember its author. There aws Cameron Dias in the picture... And author even attached .psd file.

I have saved it, but my comp crashed... So, I really miss it :)

Any help will be appreciated!

Thanx :)

Hey guys :)

I was wondering if anyone could help me or point me to a tutorial that deals with caps like that of Sweeney Todd. I'd like to be able to work at them, I don't know what to do about the blues, blacks, reds, etc. I guess basic prepping or something of the sort? XD; Sorry if I sound a tad bit confusing.

Some examples of the caps:

I use PS7 :) Thanks!

PS. I know this isn't the place to ask, but um, I've seen some people comment with no message, just their userpics, and I was wondering how that was possible?
