border up your icon

a few days ago I saw someone asking how to go for a border around your icon.

of course you can go and set a stroke to center around your icon but that way you're limited.

now how about some more fun?
oh sure there are a lot of frame brushes out there, but how about finding the one you have in mind for THAT icon?
what I experience pretty often, you can't make the border fit the icon pretty well... masking / erasing parts of the frame doesn't help much, or rotating, what to do?

right, create your own

I use photoshop CS3 extended, but I don't think that there's anything you can't translate to other programs

psd: no simply because the borders are easy to do and additional settings have to be optimized for other bases

all frames are not on the base itsself but on another layer sometimes you need to use more layers for one frame
