A few questions about GIMP

Hello!
I have GIMP...
I'm still getting used to it and I was wondering how to do Exclusion layers with it?

Also, what are masks, channels and paths and how do you use them?

Any help is appreciated, thank you!
^_^

1. I make a subtract layer and set it to 50% opacity

2. Not a clue unfortunately!

1. I set the color to darken only or subtract and play with opacity...you can also try overlay or multiply...

2.masks are images that are primarily black with a little bit of white showing usually if you set these to overlay they work well you might have to play with the opacity...I personally don't install brushes and stuff into my GIMp i just add as a new layer. I have never used the channels and paths feature so i can't help you there.

You might want to check out gimp_tutorial gimp_resourcegimp_usersgimp_trash, etc.

The tutorials look really good & helpful, these folks seem to really know what they are doing.

This is the link to an LJ search, just scroll down to the Gs & there are quite a few good comms.:

take the layer and put it on subtract and then duplicate that layer and set that to screen.

Yes, that's the only accurate way of doing it.

Subtract does not equal Exclusion, nor does Difference.
