CS2?

I have a question I've been useing CS2 from a free trial and this my first time useing it, umm...I was useing the magnetic lasso and I was wondering how can you copy it onto transprant backgrond like a selection? I've tryed copying it too a blank canvas but it doesn't select, what I already selected, but the whole picture- thank you if somebody knows

In Photoshop a selection is defined as the area surrounded by an animated line colloquially known as "marching ants". When using any of the Lasso tools it's necessary to close the loop in order to establish the selection prior to copying to the clipboard.

It's also possible to invert a selection. If you've selected an object in an image, and then decide you want to select everything but that object, use menu option Select » Inverse.
