B&W coloring tutorial

A lot of people always ask “what can I do with a black & white image” and so; I made an icon for a friend and I loved the coloring; so I figured I would make a coloring tutorial on it..

CAN BE DONE WITH PSP OR PS

STEP ONE
Okay; so get your base and everything all cropped and such. This includes any sharpening/contrast anything you wish to do to prepare the image.

STEP TWO
Next create a new raster layer.

STEP THREE
Use your GRADIENT and pick two colors. I think light colors look best; I chose #c2febb & #b8eaf6 for my gradient.

STEP FOUR
Fill your layer with the gradient & then duplicate the layer so you have two layers with the same gradient.
LAYER 2
LAYER 1
BASE

STEP FIVE
Change layer 2 to color burn [or burn with psp] && Layer 1 to darken and you get something scary like:

STEP SIX
& since that is way scary; I took the bottom layer [the base] and duplicated it; dragged it on top and set the layer to overlay.

remember to test other things out as well; this is just a basis to it!!! Every picture is different!!
