Made in PS CS2
Selective Coloring

Step One
Open your image, crop, do whatever you usually do when making icons. I chose this image of Rose McGowan because a) I liked it b) I couldn't find a PSD that I liked with that image, so c) I decided to make my own.

What I did to my image was crop, and made the blacks a little darker by going to Adjustments > Selective Color > Blacks > Black: 100

Step Two
Create a new Color Fill Layer (Layer > New Fill Layer > Solid Color) using this color (0b042b). Set this layer to Exclusion > 100%

Step Three
Create a new Selective Color Layer (Layer > New Adjustment Layer > Selective Coloring) with the following settings

Reds: -100//100//100//100
Yellows: -100//0//100//0
Neutrals: 65//-20//-50//-15

You can stop here if you want.

Step Four
Create another Selective Coloring Layer with the following settings.

Reds: -100//0//100//0
Yellows: 100//-50//-100

And she's done.

Remember that not all images will work with this tutorial. Also, I would love to see the results if anyone tries this tutorial out!
